Basel VIII Study – The PET-Study
In collaboration with the Department of Nuclear Medicine
of the University Hospital Basel, the BASEL VIII MPS-PET
study investigates the diagnostic and prognostic value of novel cardiac biomarkers, ECG
changes, and their combination with clinical information in a population referred for MPS
(myocardial perfusion scintigraphy) or cardiac PET/CT (positron emission tomography/computer
tomography) to detect the presence or extent of myocardial ischemia.
Within Basel-VIII, the PET study is the follow-up study to the MPS study, with patients
receiving cardiac PET instead of MPS as the imaging modality.
Meanwhile, in the MPS study, follow-up continues to progress and completion of the 5-year
follow-up was finished in 2021.
The PET study started in June 2020. The study team has been working with the NUK team
since the fall of 2020, and 500 patients have already been enrolled since the study
began. The first follow-ups in the PET study began in June 2021.
The collaboration with the NUK team is an essential part of the study and the assistance of the
MTRAs and cardiologists contributes significantly to the success of the study.
The Basel-VIII team would therefore like to express a big thank you to all who contribute to the
success of the PET study and the Basel-VIII study!
